First off, a note that we’ll hold a live chat today at 1 p.m.
Sorry for the late notice and the odd time, but I was trying to figure out a time that doesn’t conflict with other chat at our paper, yet doesn’t get too far removed from the Spring Game. So maybe we won’t have the crowd we usually do, but we can get all the same questions answered and it will be there for others to read later. Anyway, let’s chat at 1 p.m.
In the meantime, a few other non-TV-deal-related links. …
— ESPN.com’s Bruce Feldman puts Josh Shirley on his list of the top 10 breakout players of the spring.
— Former Husky Joe Toledo was taken in the third round of the UFL Draft on Monday.
— CollegeFootballNews.com lists Chris Polk 34th and Desmond Trufant 42nd on its list of the top 50 potential draftees in 2012 (both of whom are entering their junior seasons, but both of whom would be eligible to declare. Seems like it wouldn’t take much for Alameda Ta’amu to work his way onto those kinds of lists, either.)
— The National Football Post has its post-spring Top 25 and has just three Pac-12 teams ranked — Oregon, Stanford and USC.
— ESPN.com’s Mark Schlabach also has his post-spring Top 25 and includes Oregon, Stanford and ASU.
— Interesting story from Pro Football Weekly detailing how the lockout helped create a QB frenzy in the draft and helped guys like Jake Locker. I recall a lot of people saying in 2009 that a reason Locker made a bad move was because of the potential of the lockout and the uncertainty it would create. Looks like that may have been another thing that went in Locker’s favor in all of this.
— SportsbyBrooks details how Cal may also have been involved with Willie Lyles.
— The BusinessofCollegeSports.com details anew how football and men’s basketball pay for everything in college athletics.
All for now.
