Williams wins state, sets record; a few other links

Playing catch-up on some of the news of the day. …

— UW signee Kasen Williams set the state record in the triple jump today, and as Ron Newberry reports, returned it to his family.

— Here’s more on Marvin Hall’s big day at the LA City meet Thursday.

— Interesting stuff here from Greg Biggins on the announcement of Denver QB Cyler Miles, who has UW in his top five. Biggins quotes Miles saying UW definitely plans to take two QBs for the Class of 2012.

“My five are Illinois, Washington, Tennessee, Arkansas and Florida,” Miles said. “Washington has a commitment but they’re taking two guys and still want me. The other schools have been recruiting me very consistently and I’m very comfortable with the coaching staffs at each of the schools.. ,,, I’ll make my announcement next Friday, June 3. I took visits to all of those schools except Florida and Arkansas but I feel I know enough about each of them to keep them on my list. I’m excited about this and I’m looking forward to putting the recruiting process behind me.”

— Another QB who had been considering UW, Jake Rodrigues, announced today he is committing to Oregon.

— The Pac-12 is letting you vote on the logo for the first conference title game (I think I like the one on the top left).

All for now.
