If you subscribe to the theory that there are “must-get” recruits out there, then Mariner High running back KeiVarae Russell has moved near the top of that list for the Washington Huskies.
Russell, who will be a senior this fall at Mariner High in Everett, is not only regarded as the best running back prospect in the state of Washington this year, but among the best on the West Coast.
And as UW coach Steve Sarkisian has noted in recent weeks, with the loss of Zach Fogerson for his career and Deontae Cooper for the season, running back is suddenly a spot that UW needs to replenish in recruiting this year. Obviously, UW would take a huge step in doing that by getting a commitment from Russell.
In good news for the Huskies, Russell told our own Mason Kelley in a video interview this week that he now has a top three that consists of UW, Cal and Notre Dame.
