Friday links — Polk named to Doak Walker Watch List, and more

Sorry for the later-than-usual posting. Being the summer and all, had to accompany the kids to a midnight showing of Harry Potter. Having not read more than the first book, I had no idea what was going on half the time. But (and I have to admit I saw another Tweet make this point already today) I think Hagrid could have been a heck of an offensive line prospect in his day.

Anyway, on with the links. …

Chris Polk has been named to the watch list for the Doak Walker Award, given annually to the best running back in the country, an award that began in 1990 when it was won by UW’s Greg Lewis. While there are lots of good players on the list, you’d have to think Polk has a real shot at this one.

— More on Kyle Lewis coming to UW from his hometown paper.

— Pre-Snap Read previews UW 2011 opponents Cal and Hawaii. (And boy, it seems like you see lots of varying thoughts on Hawaii, a team hard to read because it lost a lot of players but has an established QB and what apparently is a lot of young talent on defense).

— Here’s the latest on the Willie Lyles situation from The Oregonian.

Jon Wilner with some thoughts on Lyles and Cal.

— UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel acknowledged to the LA Times this week that it’s win-or-else this season.

All for now.
