Another new Husky?

Looks that way as Dawgman.com is reporting this afternoon that UW has received a commitment from safety/outside linebacker Jason Thompson of Kennedy High in Burien.

Thompson is the younger brother of current Husky Everrette Thompson and has seen his recruitment pick up in recent weeks as the summer camp season has progressed. He was named as a “Rising Star” after the Northwest Elite Camp last month. Dawgman.com reported he impressed UW coaches while playing safety at UW’s Rising Stars camp.

The 6-3, 205-pounder has played quarterback at Kennedy but Dawgman.com reports he is being recruited as an athlete with his first looks likely coming at safety or outside linebacker depending on how he develops physically.

Here is his Scout.com profile and from Rivals.com.

Thompson is the 17th commit for UW’s Class of 2012, and the fifth from the state of Washington. Other in-state commits are punter Korey Durkee of Gig Harbor, receiver Michael Rector of Bellarmine Prep, offensive lineman Nathan Dean of Juanita and quarterback Jeff Lindquist of Mercer Island.
