A week from today, we’ll be waiting for the Huskies to hit the field. In the meantime. …
— ESPN.com’s Greg Biggins has an update on the recruitment of Mariner RB KeiVarae Russell Here’s the key quote: “Notre Dame, Cal and Washington are my favorites. Things could change, but I doubt it; and more than likely I’ll be committing to one of those three. I don’t have a leader among those three and there are actually things about each of those schools that stand out and make them unique.” Biggins also says the Huskies are also recruiting hard WR Jaydon Mickens of Dorsey High in Los Angeles. He was an early commit to USC but is now open. Said Mickens as quoted by Biggins: “Washington is definitely showing me the most love right now,” Mickens said. “I talk with (UW cornerbacks coach) Demetrice Martin and (UW) Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian) all the time, and they really want me bad. They’re aggressive recruiters and I like them a lot there. I’m going to take my visits and I’ll visit UW for sure.”

— KSL.com quotes Sarkisian in a story about Pac-12 coaches saying they won’t overlook Utah. Why anyone thinks they would is a bit of a mystery to me, but it’s probably the stock story everyone will write in Utah until the season starts.

All for now.
