Live chat at noon — And a few morning links

First off, make sure to check in on the Karl Benson chat we’re holding at 10 a.m.

Also, I’ll hold a separate chat in this space at noon — lots to talk about now with just four days until practice begins.

Now, a few links. …

— The Huskies got three votes in the USA Today coaches poll, released today, which is fewer than six other Pac-12 teams (and recall USC is ineligible to get votes in this poll, though it can get votes in the AP poll). As you can see, Steve Sarkisian is not a voter this year. He was a year ago, but they tend to rotate those around a little bit (note that Jeff Tedford, to name one Pac-12 coach, was not a voter last year but is this year).

— Athlon’s lists four reasons UW could surprise this year, and four more it may not.

— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller has Jermaine Kearse at No. 18 on his list of the Pac-12’s Top 25 players entering the season.

— The Kitsap Sun has a story on Jake Locker and Matt Hasselbeck working together in Tennessee.

— A Tampa Bay columnist says Mason Foster is a player the team has a lot riding on.

D’Andre Goodwin mentioned a few times in this Denver practice report.

— As some of you noted, Louis Rankin also recently signed with the Raiders, bringing to four the number of former Huskies on their roster, along with Khalif Barnes, Marcel Reece and Cody Habben. The Raiders play the Seahawks in the final pre-season game on Sept. 2 in Seattle.

— Here’s a training camp preview of USC.

All for now.
