Saturday a.m. links — Punters, BCS and more

I wrote today about what may not be the most exciting position on the team, but could be one of the better position battles — punter.

It was also the first chance to talk to Will Mahan since he was injured last year prior to Syracuse game and hear how his recovery has gone. As you can read, he said all is well and he considers himself 100 percent. So far, they are not close to deciding this one.

In other UW news. …

— OL Walker Williams of Tacoma Baptist, who had been considering UW, has committed instead to Wisconsin.

— Here’s the report from UW’s official site.

— The AP had its annual look at the top-paid employees in the state, and is always the case it’s whoever is the head coach at Washington at the time, so no surprise Steve Sarkisian tops the list.

Recapping Huskies in the NFL. …

Mason Foster had a fumble recovery and a tackle in Tampa Bay’s 25-0 win over the Chiefs last night. And sorry I missed it earlier, but Victor Aiyewa has been cut by the Bucs.

Around college football. …

Bud Withers writes that the Pac-12 and Big Ten favor a limited playoff format that could alter the BCS.

— Withers also writes about Utah in the Times’ series of Pac-12 previews.

— Lots of Pac-12 links from the Spokesman-Review.

And remember that practice tonight starts at 7 p.m.
