Saturday night links — Remembering ’91, and Huskies in the NFL

It’s been 20 years since Washington’s 1991 national title team, and we decided to recognize that anniversary with a few stories in today’s paper (and will continue to throughout the season).

The main story today examines how that team came together. A sidebar explores the feelings these two decades later on UW having to share the title with Miami.

I’ll have some more from some of those interviews on the blog over the next day or so.

Also in Sunday’s paper is my wrapup of Saturday’s scrimmage.

HUSKIES IN THE NFL. …

Jake Locker’s second NFL pre-season game didn’t go quite as well as his first. However, MusicCityMiracles says not to read much into his numbers, that he rarely had any time to throw.

Austin Sylvester had one carry for one yard for Denver (but no catches for D’Andre Goodwin).

— Stats here for Louis Rankin, Marcel Reece and Dashon Goldson in the Raiders-49ers game.

— And Dorson Boyce caught three passes for the Seahawks, or three more than he caught for UW in his two years with the Huskies.
