Afternoon links and notes

I’ve gotten a lot of questions about practice today. It is scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m. and feature extensive scrimmaging.

As UW coach Steve Sarkisian said this week, the scrimmage will mark something of a turning point in fall camp. After this week, the Huskies will begin to shift to more gameplanning and preparing for the season. Remaining personnel decisions will also begin to be made in earnest after the scrimmage today, though as I noted in my story for today’s paper, a lot of spots already appear set.

Also a reminder that Picture Day is tomorrow (Sunday, Aug. 21) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

IN OTHER NEWS. …

— Lots of interesting stuff percolating around the Pac-12 today, including the news that Oregon RB Lache Seastrunk — the player at the center of the “recruiting services” investigation — may be transferring.

— There’s also more controversy surrounding ASU LB Vontaze Burfict (and remember that UW and the Devils don’t play this season or next season, so the Huskies won’t face him again).

Jake Locker and the Titans will play at St. Louis tonight at 5 p.m.

— The Rams, by the way, officially signed Cody Habben today. He was released by the Raiders earlier in camp. Locker and Habben were roommates for a time at UW, so they’ll be reunited at least briefly tonight.

Nate Williams had two tackles and a pass defense last night for the Ravens.
