Dennison, Thompson named Pac-12 Players of the Week

Another week, another conference two Player of the Week honors for UW.

This week, it’s middle linebacker Cort Dennison, who won Defensive Player of the Week honors after making 12 tackles and forcing a critical fumble in a 40-32 win over Hawaii; and Everrette Thompson, who won Special Teams Player of the Week honors for blocking two point after touchdowns.

Dennison forced a fumble that UW recovered at its own 5 with the score 7-0 and Hawaii threatening to score.

He was also cited as a key in helping contain the running of Hawaii QB Bryant Moniz, who finished with just two net yards on nine attempts.

Thompson’s two blocks proved critical in helping the Huskies stave off Hawaii’s comeback attempt — the Warriors were ultimately unsuccessful on three PAT tries and UW ran back the last of Thompson’s blocks for two points of its own.

Desmond Trufant was honored last week on defense and Erik Folk on special teams.
