My Top 25

I’ve had Oklahoma at the top of my ballot all year, and the Sooners reinforced that belief with their win Saturday over Florida State.

And that again left relatively unchanged the top section of my ballot. I thought about moving LSU up a spot after its win at Mississippi State which gives it maybe the best resume so far (also throwing in its earlier win over Oregon) but ultimately left them there.

Florida State’s loss meant some juggling in the middle, though I wasn’t going to crush the Seminoles for losing to the top-ranked team.

Much more activity at the bottom of the poll with losses by the likes of Michigan State, Arizona State and Auburn that moved them out, with teams like Clemson, Illinois, Georgia Tech (leading the nation in rushing at 427 per game) and Vanderbilt (yes, Vanderbilt — James Franklin may be building something there) moving in.

And yes, just two Pac-12 teams in the poll this week. Thought heavily about putting USC back in, and I couldn’t put Utah in if I didn’t have the Trojans there —- and no one else was worthy this week. USC has its chance next week at Arizona State.

Here’s the entire ballot:

1, Oklahoma
2, Alabama
3, LSU
4, Oklahoma State
5, Stanford
6, Boise State
7, Wisconsin
8, Florida State
9, Oregon
10, South Carolina
11, Florida
12, Virginia Tech
13, Texas A&M
14, Arkansas
15, Nebraska
16, Baylor
17, West Virginia
18, Texas
19, Clemson
20, South Florida
21, TCU
22, Illinois
23, Mississippi State
24, Vanderbilt
25, Georgia Tech
