Thursday practice notes

The Huskies are off the field following their Thursday practice, their last significant work of the week until taking on Colorado Saturday.

Kasen Williams was again a full participant and seems on track to potentially being able to play Saturday, though UW coach Steve Sarkisian stopped short of saying that afterward.

“I thought today he looked even better (than earlier in the week),” Sarkisian said. “He really did a nice job in both the returns games today. He looked the best he’s looked running routes, so I was very encouraged. I think tomorrow will be good for him not have to be such an intense day for his ankle. Hopefully it feels good Saturday.”

Also getting a lot of work was defensive tackle Danny Shelton, who sat out the Utah game with a foot injury.

“I wouldn’t give him (a label of) 100 percent, but again I thought today he looked much better than he’s looked,” Sarkisian said. “I think he is getting better, and better, and better, which is encouraging. Foot things with big guys are always a little concerning because, if you remember back to Ben Riva in spring ball and things like that. He is getting better. He is moving better. And I think he’ll be able to do some things for us Saturday.”

As for some of the lineup questions, specifically on defense where there are five spots listed as having co-starters, Sarkisian played a little coy. “They’ll all play,” he said. “All those guys will play.”

Asked if that means 50-50 rotations, he said: “It’s going to depend on what they do and what their emphasis is going to be. We have to figure that out during the game – if they are going to try to spread us out or if they are going to play more two-back and all that stuff…we have to figure that out. And that will depict some of our playing time.”

As for Keith Price, Sarkisian said: “Oh, I wouldn’t give him 100 percent yet, but he looks the best I’ve seen him now for over a month.”

Otherwise, no real personnel news. Here’s video of what Sarkisian had to say:
