My Top 25

While the Huskies were learning painfully just why Stanford may be a national title contender, there was lots of excitement elsewhere that will mean some changes in the Top 25.

Specifically, the losses by Oklahoma and Wisconsin will shake things up a bit, Stanford likely being one of the biggest beneficiaries — there was a loud roar at Stanford Stadium when the Wisconsin score was announced as the game with the Huskeis came to a close.

My top two remains unchanged, but I moved Oklahoma State into the third spot — I saw no shame in the win at Missouri — and Stanford moves to No. 4 on my ballot, with Boise State and then Oregon close behind. I’ve had Oregon ahead of Clemson all along — the Ducks’ loss to LSU isn’t looking any worse, obviously — and see no reason to move the Ducks down now.

As for the Huskies, they move off of my ballot, and I would imagine they will off of most, though the reality is there’s not a lot separating the teams near the bottom of the poll. Washington, though, obviously has significant work to do on defense to be a consistently ranked team right now. We’ll see if maybe Stanford is just good and UW can get a few more wins the rest of the way to maybe move back into the rankings at some point.

Here’s my entire ballot:

, LSU
, Alabama
, Oklahoma State
, Stanford
, Boise State
, Oregon
, Clemson
, Kansas State
, Michigan State
, Arkansas
, Oklahoma
, Wisconsin
, South Carolina
, Virginia Tech
, Nebraska
, Texas A&M
, Houston
, Penn State
, Georgia
, Michigan
, Arizona State
, USC
, Texas Tech
, Baylor
, Texas
