Remembering 1991 — and a few more predictions and other notes

With the celebration for the 1991 team tomorrow, I figured I would pass along a few stories and blog items I did earlier this year commemorating the 20th anniversary of that team. …

— Here’s an overall story on that season along with a sidebar on their thoughts on having to share the title with Miami.

— Here’s an interview I did with Steve Emtman as well as another with Ed Cunningham and with Don James.

— Also, one reader asked for a roster of the team. Here’s about the best I can find.

And here are a few more links to pass along as a rather momentous day in UW football history nears. …

Bud Withers picks UW 37-31.

— The Go2Guy also picks the Husies.

Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian previews the game and picks Oregon 47-40.

Ken Goe with a full rundown of Oregon-Washington stories.

Rob Moseley of the Eugene Register-Guard picks Oregon in a tight one. And it strikes me that I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone pick Oregon to win by the spread, which remains at 16.5.

— Don’t forget you can watch the newest episode of the Great Moments at Husky Stadium series tonight at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on UWTV. Tonight’s epidsode is “Personal Best” described this way: “For many young men, growing up in Washington meant dreaming of playing football at Washington. In this episode, personal stories of making the team and then making the most of the moment are shared. Memories include Steve Pelluer, Mark Pattison and company sending Michigan home with a heartbreaking loss in an incredible come from behind win for the Dawgs!” All episodes can be found online here.

— Here’s a link to UW’s game notes, which include a depth chart on page 10.

— Here are some interesting thoughts on the game from Ken Woody, a former player at Oregon and coach at both UW and WSU.

— The Portland Tribune with a bunch of notes on the game.

— Here’s a partial transcript of some of Chip Kelly’s memorable interivew on KJR-AM (now also KJR-FM 102.9) on Thursday.

— Finally, Bet On College Sports says expect Oregon to win but take UW and all those points.
