Sarkisian confirms Price to start Apple Cup

He basically said this on Saturday so I’m not sure there was much uncertainty. But in case there is I’ll pass along a quick note that UW coach Steve Sarkisian said in his press conference today that Keith Price will start at QB in the Apple Cup.

Sarkisian said the time off last week appeared to have helped heal his sprained left knee and that he looked good on Sunday and that there is no question he can start.

In other personnel news:

— He said Colin Tanigawa was having an MRI today but it does appear to be an ACL injury, so he would obviously be out until next year. He said Nick Wood goes into the week as the starter at left guard but other options will be explored, notably moving Erik Kohler to guard and putting in Micah Hatchie at tackle.

— He said he hopes Garret Gilliland can return at linebacker. He confirmed that on Saturday, when Princeton Fuimaono went out briefly, they put Thomas Tutogi at middle linebacker and moved Cort Dennison to fill in at WLB for Fuimaono.

— He said he thinks Justin Glenn and Will Shamburger will be able to return this week but that Nate Fellner will go into the week as the starter at free safety.

— He also said Danny Shelton is being promoted to starter at DT after playing well the last two weeks.

— The school also announced that UW practices will be closed after Tuesday, and that players will only be available on Tuesday.

I’ll have more quotes and video later.
