Banner among visitors this weekend

Most, if not all, FBS schools are preparing to host a number of recruits this weekend, and UW is no exception.

And among UW’s official visitors will be Lakes High offensive lineman Zach Banner, a five-star recruit considered among the best tackle prospects in the nation, and obviously one of the most coveted in-state players.

Other visitors this week, according to Scout.com, include the already committed Jeff Lindquist (QB, Mercer Island) and Dwayne Washington of Gahr High in Cerritos, Calif.

This will be the fourth trip for Banner, who has already visited Michigan, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.

Lakes High coach Dave Miller said today that this weekend worked out well for Banner since Lakes does not have any basketball games. He said Banner plans to visit USC the weekend of Jan. 13-15 for his final visit and then make a decision/announcement a week or so later.

While Banner has made five visits, some who follow recruiting think UW, USC and Oklahoma are the favorites.

Banner is one of two key in-state offensive line targets for the Huskies, the other being guard Josh Garnett of Puyallup. Garnett has said he will likely visit UW the weekend of Jan. 20-22 and then make a decision/announcement shortly after.

So UW fans will have wait a while to learn the futures of two of the key prospects in this year’s class.
