Friday night notes

A few more notes before calling it a night. …

— It sounded for a few minutes like maybe there was some real news on the Zach Banner front (which is why this blog entry started in the first place) though now it looks like there may not be. A KING-5 story and video indicated that Banner may have eliminated UW. Later reports quoted Banner saying he has not eliminated UW and is still considering the Huskies along with USC and Oklahoma. So sounds like for now, status quo.

— I know there’s a hankering for news on the coaching front, but I don’t have any substantive enough to feel comfortable passing along in this space. There’s lots of rumors, and ones I know are being commented on here and elsewhere. But at the moment, there’s nothing beyond the rumor stage.

— This is a day old, but here’s my appearance Thursday on 710 ESPN with Bob and Groz.

Lisa Horne of Scout.com puts Keith Price on her early 2012 Heisman Trophy watch list.

— Interesting stuff from the Wall Street Journal on how much of a school’s overall revenue is generated from football — UW is right along with Washington State at one percent, far behind LSU, which leads the pack at a whopping 14 percent.

— Oregon’s LaMichael James said today he’s leaving Oregon for the NFL Draft. Will be interesting to watch how James and Chris Polk are evaluated and the careers they have down the road.

— ESPN.com’s Stanford blog predicts a loss to UW next year.

— Remember Bo Levi Mitchell? The Eastern Washington QB who shredded UW’s defense in the season opener? He won the Walter Payton Award tonight, honoring the best player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
