A few meetings, a Sunday project and some other stuff have had me away from the computer most of the day.
But here are a few other quick notes. …
— I can confirm that UW department officials confirm that the Rams did indeed call to ask for permission to talk to UW coach Steve Sarkisian and he said he was not interested. It’s thought the Rams are talking to a lot of coaches as potential other options should Jeff Fisher — thought to be their first choice — not work out. Various reports today have the Rams also talking to former UW defensive back Ray Horton, now the defensive coordinator for the Cardinals, among others. So it’s probably not accurate to portray this as Sarkisian turning down an offer from the Rams. But he did turn down an opportunity to at least talk to the Rams, which should be one more piece of evidence to soothe UW fans who may be worried that he’d leap at the first chance to get out of town (an idea for which there is nothing to support).
— ESPN.com has more on the decision of Shaq Thompson to commit to the Bears, as well as noting that Cal may pick up two more key commits this weekend.
— Ted Miller says in a mailbag today that the hires of Justin Wilcox and Peter Sirmon by UW are great and also digs up some history on each.
— UW has announced details of its signing day banquet, which you can find here.
