Tuesday night notes

We’ll start with the news of what might be the most tangible result yet of Washington’s hiring of two new coaches with Cal ties — a Tweet from Jordan Payton tonight that he will take an official visit to UW this weekend.

Payton, of Oaks Christian High and Westlake Village, Calif., is considered as one of the top receiving prospects on the West Coast and was one of a trio of players who famously committed to Cal just 10 days ago during the U.S. Army All-American Game (here is his Scout.com profile).

But as he Tweeted, he was visited tonight by UW assistants Tosh Lupoi and Justin Wilcox and will take an official to UW this weekend. Payton also will apparently now consider Michigan and UCLA, he has said in other interviews.

— Here’s my story on the hiring of Eric Kiesau as offensive coordinator. It’s been confirmed and reported elsewhere about as much as something can without it being official, it seems. I’d expect an announcement tomorrow since it seems so official everywhere else, including the statements from Cal confirming his departure. And my full understanding is that he will have the title of offensive coordinator. But until UW says exactly what everyone’s role is we’ll have to wait before writing it in pen.

— Examiner.com has more on the potential recruiting fallout for Cal.

— Judging by a few Tweets, it looks like former UW PK Erik Folk is playing Saturday in the NFLPA All-Star Game.
