Friday afternoon notes

Seattle is still climbing out from under one of the bigger snow/ice storms in recent memory.

But in the midst of it all, the Huskies will bring in a handful of recruits this weekend as the ramp-up to letter-of-intent signing day Feb. 1 gets even more urgent. And obviously, everything about UW’s recruiting has changed with the new hires in the last few weeks.

At the moment, the consensus seems to be that UW has six firm visitors for this weekend — but that number is almost sure to change.

The six confirmed so far include two players who committed to schools where new UW coaches once worked — receiver Jordan Payton of Westlake Village, Calif., who had been committed to Cal; and safety Devian Shelton of Inglewood, Calif., who had been committed to Oregon State.

Others reported to be taking visits to UW this weekend are: DE Luke Kaumatule of Punahou School in Honolulu; fullback Psalm Wooching of Kealakehe High in Kailua Kona, Hawaii; OL Jake Eldrenkamp of Bellevue and RB Brandon Wilson of Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, La.

All are reported by Scout.com as having offers from UW.
