Tuesday afternoon notes — UPDATED Eldrenkamp changes announcement plans

The news doesn’t stop coming this time of year. …

— UPDATED, 2:40 P.M. — While I was away for a few minutes, turns out Bellevue High OL Jake Eldrenkamp has decided he will not announce his college choice on KJR-AM during the Dave “Softy” Mahler show. Instead, he will announce in another to-be-determined fashion.

Eldrenkamp has narrowed his choices to UW and WSU.

The 6-5, 295-pound Eldrenkamp, who most think projects as a guard, has visited only the two in-state schools (and contrary to other reports relayed here, it sounds as if he had in-homes with both schools on Monday).

He’s obviously at a position of real need for the Huskies, who have just two commitments at the moment from offensive linemen in Cory English of Auburn High (likely a center) and Nathan Dean of Juanita (projected as a tackle).

As the previous post detailed, Zach Banner of Lakes High said earlier today that he will announce on Monday at his high school.

Eldrenkamp and Banner are the only two in-state prospects left with offers from UW that are publicly still considering the Huskies.

— BearTerritory.net is reporting today that Cedric Dozier is sticking with his commitment to Cal, though he visited WSU last weekend and is believed to have a visit today with WSU coach Mike Leach.

— The practices for the North team at the Senior Bowl have concluded for Tuesday. Here’s a wrapup from SI.com that indicates Chris Polk didn’t exactly wow everybody. However, Pat Kirwan of NFL.com came away impressed by Senio Kelemete and Alameda Ta’amu.

— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller gives UW a grade of “C” for the 2011 season.

— The Eugene Register-Guard wraps up all of its Chip Kelly coverage.

— Colorado has gotten a commitment from a controversial four-star cornerback (a huge position of need for the Buffs if you remember what their secondary was like this season).

— Finally, an early notice that I will be joined by Mason Kelley again here tomorrow at noon for another live chat focused on recruiting.
