Wednesday morning notes — Live chat at noon

We’ll begin with a reminder that we will hold our weekly live chat today at noon, again bringing in Mason Kelley and putting the focus on recruiting.

— Here’s our writeup for the paper on the commitment last night of Bellevue High OL Jake Eldrenkamp.

— In an ESPN Insider piece, Greg Biggins updates the status of QB Cyler Miles, who says he will have in-home visits from both UW and USC on Saturday. Miles said that he will give USC coach Lane Kiffin “a chance to sell” the Trojans but that “I’m still solid with Washington.” The visit will be his first chance to meet new UW OC Eric Kiesau.

— It was Tweeted last night that UW commit Michael Rector from Bellarmine Prep will now make a decision on signing day between the Huskies and Stanford. There had long been speculation that if Rector got admitted to Stanford that the Cardinal would become a serious player for him.

— Safety Devian Shelton of Inglewood, Calif., who had said he was solid with his commitment to Oregon State, now says he will decide on signing day among OSU, UW and Nebraska. He was recruited to OSU by Keith Heyward and visited UW last week.

— OL Shane Brostek of Kamuela, Hawaii and son of former UW standout Bern Brostek, had an in-home visit last night with Oregon coach Chip Kelly. He’s still generally regarded as a lean to UW among those who cover local recruiting.

— The Sacramento Bee updates the recruitment of Arik Armstead, for whom the Huskies appear to remain in the running, if not among the favorites.

— Former Husky coach Rick Neuheisel will be among those in-studio to help with the CBS College Sports signing day coverage next Wednesday.

Chris Polk is among the finalists for major awards tonight at the Seattle Sports Star of the Year banquet. I will actually be helping us cover this, and hope to pass along some stuff in this space if applicable (Polk obviously won’t be there as he’s at the Senior Bowl, but Jake Locker is among those expected to be in attendance).

As for some Senior Bowl notes. …

— Here’s another story on Polk’s attempts to prove he’s fast enough.

— Polk drew praise from Vikings coach Leslie Frazier.

— DraftInsider.net has assessments of the play on the first days of a number of players, including Senio Kelemete and Alameda Ta’amu.

— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller reviews the Senior Bowl performances of a number of Pac-12 players, including Kelemete, Polk and Ta’amu.

And in non-recruiting or Senior Bowl news. …

— There’s apparently growing support for requiring at least seven wins to qualify for a bowl.

— Finally, SI.com has an interesting story on recruits’ use of social media.
