Thursday morning links and notes — LOI Day now just six days away

Not that you’d know it from the flurry of activity and uncertainty out there, but the recruiting season is indeed winding down.

There’s now less than a week to the Feb. 1 Letter-of-Intent Signing Day, and just a few days left for coaches to be on the road.

There remains a contact period through Saturday, a time when basically just about anything goes in terms of in-person contact, on or off campus. So for three more days you’ll hear about coaches making in-home visits (such as the one UW coaches will make with Cyler Miles on Saturday) and then that will be it.

Sunday is a quiet period day, when the only in-person contact can come on a college campus (which basically means recruits finishing up official visits). Then starting Monday comes a dead period which lasts through Thursday when no in-person contact is allowed though there can be calls or written correspondence.

One of the big questions of the recruiting season will finally be answered today when Puyallup’s Josh Garnett announces his decision this afternoon, having narrowed his choices to Stanford and Michigan.

Pacific Takes also has a nice morning update of significant news regarding many of the top recruits on the West.
