As the headline says, we fell behind a little bit over the weekend on some links, so time to catch up. …
— Though first, a little news that broke last night as Rivals.com is reporting that DL Malcolm Jackson, a commit to UW since June, will instead sign with San Diego State. The site reports thats Jackson was “dropped” by UW — apparently, grades may have been at the crux of it. As for how this impacts numbers, with LOI Day now less than 48 hours away it’s almost best now to wait until it’s all over and assess it then once we know for sure who has and has not signed. Conventional wisdom remains that UW will sign at least 25 or so.
— In my story for today’s paper I looked at the two QBs that have committed to UW for this year, focusing mostly on Mercer Island’s Jeff Lindquist. I’ll pass along more from Lindquist in a later blog post.
— Times columnist Steve Kelley says some fans need to learn to act a little better on message boards when it comes to recruiting.

— ESPN.com examines how social media has changed recruiting (and note, there is a mention in there of an incident with Lawyer Milloy that is an example of something that could be a violation. Have not heard if that’s something that has been determined to be an actual violation. The punishment would be to stop, essentially, since as the story says, this is all new territory and everyone is trying to figure it out).
— This is always the time of year to wonder how much “stars” matter and there are a couple of good stories out today on that topic. Here’s one from Scout.com looking at the star ratings of 2011 NFL Draft picks. Here’s another from Rivals.com looking at the average star rating over the past five years for teams ranked in the Top 25 this season.
— Rivals.com also has a good story on the increasing trend of early commits.
— Good stuff from ESPN.com noting that there are simply more good football players in the south.
