Signing day afternoon

MILES, BEAVER LOIS IN — The LOIs for Miles and Beaver are in. So all the letters are in for the 25 players UW expected to sign today. It sounds like that will be it for UW today and the class is done.

PRESS CONFERENCE OVER — Steve Sarkisian’s press conference is over. A couple quick notes:

— He announced the signing of Brandon Beaver and basically acknowledged that he committed a while ago but it was kept quiet. He said he had Beaver’s okay to announce it.

— Cyler Miles is in, but it just wasn’t official enough yet to talk about him by name. That gives UW 25 commits and Sarkisian said that “as of right now” he did not anticipate the Huskies signing anyone else.

— He said the only player to enroll early will be LB Ryan McDaniel.

— He said the only greyshirt candidate is Kalei Auelua due to a knee injury but that the numbers won’t necessitate anyone else needing to do that.

UW SWITCHES — Right now, I count five UW signees who had made public commitments to other schools earlier:

— Pio Vatuvei (USC)
— Shaq Thompson (Cal)
— Cleveland Wallace (Oregon State)
— Jaydon Mickens (USC)
— Erich Wilson II (Colorado).

(Probably should add Travis Coons (SD State), and Psalm Wooching (UCLA) as well).

CBS SPORTS ON MILES — Here’s the report from CBSSports.com on Miles.

PREVIEW — I’m told it’s hard to comment in the signing day live thread at the moment. So I’ll start a new thread now as we wait for Steve Sarkisian’s press conference.

At the moment, nothing new here since the news that Cyler Miles will indeed sign with UW. UW has 24 signings and could get 2-3 more depending on a few decisions down the road. Nothing yet on any of those.

Sarkisian is expected to meet the media here at 2 p.m.
