Live chat Thursday at noon, and a few other notes

It’s kind of a dead time in college football. But we haven’t had a chance for a chat in a couple of weeks, so we’ll hold one Thursday at noon.

Also tonight. …

Joe Davidson of the Sacramento Bee, who seems to know everything that happens in and around Sacramento, Tweeted that UW has hired Andrew Rollin, most recently of the University of San Diego, to a job as an offensive assistant. This would not be for one of the nine full-time assistant coaching jobs, which are all filled, but one of the other jobs with the staff (meaning not on the field and not directly handling recruiting). I’d assume he may be filling the vacancy created when John Glenn left earlier this week for the Seahawks. Rollin was a player at USD when current UW receivers coach Jimmie Dougherty was an assistant there.

— This story from 247Sports on Lompoc (Calif.) High mentions UW having a private jet for recruiting. That’s a little misleading as the UW coaches generally fly commercial and do not have their own private jet, but do use charter planes at times, according to the school, when deemed necessary.

— USC made an interesting hire as new receivers coach, with the news also breaking in an unconventional way.

— Interesting stuff on challenges Texas is facing with the Longhorn Network.
