Former Husky Cunningham wins Oscar for Best Documentary

I guess I can’t say I looked it up to be sure, but I don’t remember any other former Husky football player winning an Oscar for producing the Best Documentary before.

Former UW center Ed Cunningham did that tonight, however, winning for the movie “Undefeated.”

The movie was directed by Seattle native TJ Martin, as detailed in this story in the Seattle Times today.

Here’s a recent interview about the movie with Cunningham, who was one of the captains of UW’s 1991 national title winning team (here’s a blog post from August with Cunningham talking about that season).

Cunningham is also now a college football analyst for ESPN/ABC as well as a movie producer (here’s a list of credits).
