A few news and notes worth passing along this afternoon. …
— UW is holding an open call for nominations for the 2012 Husky Hall of Fame class. All the details can be found here, as well as a list of those already inducted.
— Details have been revealed today of the new contracts for the football coaching staff at Alabama. That’s relevant here since we now know how much money Doug Nussmeier got to leave UW to take over at Alabama as the new offensive coordinator there — a reported $590,000 per year for a guaranteed three years.
That’s a fairly hefty raise from the $365,000 Nussmeier got last year at UW. It’s also more than his successor, Eric Kiesau, is getting at UW. Kiesau signed a three-year deal guaranteeing him $375,000 this year, $400,000 in 2013 and $425,000 in 2014. (Nussmeier will also have greater responsibility at Alabama in calling plays and also walks into an offensive system he already knows, which also made the move attractive).
— Rivals.com has an interesting story today on the increasing attempts by SEC schools to lure recruits out of the state of California.
— Oregon announced today it is closing spring practice to the public and media.
— Links around the Pac-12 from ESPN.com’s Ted Miller.
— Jon Wilner with some more non-Pac-12 realignment news.
All for now.
