Sarkisian radio interview on KJR-AM

UW coach Steve Sarkisian was a guest on KJR-AM this morning, with morning show host Mitch Levy.

So news, per se, but lots of interesting conversation, including his thoughts on how last year ended and the subsequent coaching changes, the news about Colin Porter, his thoughts on recruits that got away, and whether Shaq Thompson will carry the ball with Washington.

In fact, the Thompson stuff is interesting as Sarkisian says Thompson would be good enough to be a full-time running back but wants to play safety. So it’ll be interesting to watch what happens when he does get some carries on offense. Thompson made it clear during the recruiting process that he would want the chance to play both ways.

Sarkisian also talks about the backup QB job (he praises the play this spring of Derrick Brown but says incoming Jeff Lindquist and Cyler Miles will be given every chance to compete this fall), the tailback spot, and calling more bootleg and rollout plays for Keith Price this year.

The interview is below:

— Also, here is the story from GoHuskies.com on the premature end of Porter’s UW career.
