In response to a query from The Seattle Times, UW confirmed today that assistant Tosh Lupoi was “limited” in recruiting on the road during the spring evaluation period — which runs from April 15 to May 31 — due to a self-reported, secondary violation (here’s an explanation of the spring evaluation period).
The school said the violation occurred when Lupoi “publicized the visit of a prospective student-athlete who ultimately did not commit to UW by confirming information about the recruit to members of the Dawg Pack student section at a men’s basketball game.”
The school would not release other details, such as the length of time he was limited. But it is presumed the penalty has run its course since the spring evaluation period is over.
Also, since I know it will be asked, there are no details on the name of the recruit in question.
Lupoi was hired by UW from Cal in January as defensive line coach and defensive run game coordinator, also coming to the Huskies with a reputation for recruiting acumen.
