Saturday links — TV times coming soon

The Pac-12 is holding meetings this weekend in San Diego, and among those covering them is Bryan Fischer of CBSSports, com.

Here’s his story from Friday night on the latest on the Pac-12 Networks, notably that some gametimes and TV designations should come next week. Also included in that story is the latest on distribution and further confirmation of the Aug. 15 start date for the Pac-12 Networks.

In more ominous news regarding distribution, however, MediaPost.com says there’s a chance DirecTV will not offer the Pac-12 Networks.

IN OTHER NEWS. …

— Fischer also caught up with UW athletic director Scott Woodward, who said the Tosh Lupoi secondary violation reported this week is not a big deal.

Johnie Kirton’s former Arizona AFL teammates are still struggling to deal with his death earlier this week, reports the Arizona Republic.

Rob Rang says Alameda Ta’amu could be a starter for the Steelers in 2012.

— Fischer also reports on the Pac-12’s views on playoffs.

— Interesting stuff from Pacific Takes rounding up all of the various recruiting rankings for Pac-12 schools.

— The Holiday Bowl says it plans to be more aggressive when its current contracts run out following the 2013 season, which could mean it won’t be affiliated with the Pac-12 anymore.
