Williams to decide Friday

There are a couple of reports out there today that quarterback Troy Williams of Narbonne High in Harbor City, Calif., will announce his choice of college Friday afternoon at his school.

Williams, rated four stars by Scout.com, is said to be down to UW and Arizona, but most consider the Huskies the heavy favorites.

If the Huskies get Williams, he will fill the QB spot in their Class of 2013. It’s been thought the Huskies will want one for this class — pretty much a requirement in any class to get a QB — but won’t want more than that this year after taking two last year in Jeff Lindquist and Cyler Miles. Assuming Williams commits, UW would then have five quarterbacks with the potential to be on the roster and on scholarship in 2013, when Keith Price would be a senior and Derrick Brown a sophomore, along with Lindquist and Miles.

Williams visited UW last week and said Friday he wanted to take a little time to make sure of his decision.

— Rivals.com is also reporting that four-star defensive end Joe Mathis of Upland, Calif., has said again that his three finalists are UW, Michigan and Nebraska. Mathis, if you recall, committed to UW last October before deciding to re-open his recruitment.

Mathis was among those who visited UW for Junior Day and the Spring Game and had also told Scout, com shortly after that visit that the Huskies, Nebraska and Michigan were his three favorites.
