Huskies get a kicker?

Looks like UW has added a kicker to its 2013 recruiting class as there are several reports tonight that Cameron Van Winkle of Mount Si has committed to the Huskies.

Those reports include a Tweet from kicking instructor Chris Sailer and a Facebook post from Van Winkle stating “I am going to be a Husky.” The Times has also received one independent confirmation of Van Winkle’s commitment.

Here’s his Scout.com profile and his stats from last year and his profile from KohlsKicking.

The 5-10, 160-pounder was named to the Seattle Times All-State Team last fall as a kicker after setting a state record for field goals with 18, including six of 42 yards or longer. He was also named to the MaxPreps Junior All-American Team.

He is the sixth known commit for UW’s Class of 2013 and the fourth from in-state, joining WR Sammie Long of Lakes, DT Jaimie Bryant of Tumwater and LB Sean Constantine of Bellevue.

UW also signed two kickers in its class of 2012 — incoming frosh Korey Durkee of Gig Harbor, who projects as a punter; and JC transfer Travis Coons, expected to be the placekicker this fall.

Here’s a little bit of video of Van Winkle:
