Monday links — A rating of coaches on the hot seat

Catching up. …

— And we’ll start with the annual hot seat ratings compiled by Dennis Dodd of CBSSports.com. Dodd lists UW’s Steve Sarkisian’s a “1” on a scale of 0-5, up slightly from a 0.5 rating in 2011.

After the coaching turnover of last year in the conference, there’s few coaches that seem in immediate danger. But Dodd does list two as fast risers — Cal’s Jeff Tedford, at 3.5, up from a 2.0 last year; and Oregon State’s Mike Riley at 3.0, up from 1.0. In a few other interesting ratings, he has Jim Mora at 2.5 despite having yet to coach a game, Colorado’s Jon Embree at 3.0 after just one season, and Utah’s Kyle Whittingham having risen to a 1.5 from a 0 last year. (And as some of you have pointed out since I first posted this, Oregon’s Chip Kelly is at 3.0, certainly due to the lingering NCAA investigation).
