Husky Football Blog

The latest news and analysis on the Montlake Dawgs.

August 13, 2012 at 2:31 PM

Monday afternoon notes and links — SDSU names a quarterback, and more

A few notes to pass along before heading up to UW’s practice tonight. …

— A few of you have asked about the Husky Football App has offered the past few years. Sadly, the Times is not offering that again this year. The official word is that the company is “redirecting our resources to focus on new, more comprehensive Web Apps for tablets and smart phones running iOS or Android. These are currently available at no charge to our newspaper subscribers.” You can get info on those here.

— As we wrote on the blog a week or so ago to expect to happen, Johri Fogerson has officially transferred to Central Washington. He’s expected to have two years of eligibility remaining there.

— Here’s a video look from the Left Hand Stance (also known as UW center Drew Schaefer) at Washington’s trip to the Seahawks game Saturday night.

— CBSSports.com looks at three players who need to have big seasons for Washington to be successful.

— No surprise here, but it hadn’t been completely official until today that former Oregon State starting QB Ryan Katz will be the starter for San Diego State this season, making his debut with the Aztecs when they play UW at CenturyLink Field on Sept. 1. Here’s more.

Dominique Blackman, who signed with UW in 2008 but never enrolled, has been named the starting QB at Idaho.

— Also looks like Arizona State is focusing on Taylor Kelly as its starting QB.

— Here are the top 30 teams in the preseason poll of CBSSports.com, with links to the season previews for each.

— CBSSports.com is also presenting best- and worst-case scenarios for each Pac-12 team. Here’s Colorado.

— And speaking of Pac-12 previews, I’ve been remiss not to pass along those we have been running in our paper, most of which are written by Bud Withers. Here is his take on USC and UCLA.
