Thursday links — Live chat at noon, and more

With the college football season now just a week away, and the Huskies wrapping up camp, no better time than today to chat, right? Right.

So that’s what we’ll do today at noon.

Until then, a few links. …

UW LINKS. …

— For my story for Thursday’s paper, I wrote about middle linebacker John Timu and his role as the quarterback of the defense.

— CoachSark’s site has some photos of the day.

Mason Kelley of ESPN’s HuskyNation examines how UW and WSU are colliding on the recruiting trail.

— KJRAM had Timu and Drew Schaefer as guests after practice Wednesday. You can find the links to podcasts here.

— I was also on KJR-AM Wednesday — listen here.

— An ESPNInsider story assesses what Keith Price (and a few others) needs to do to get into the race for the Heisman. Here’s what it says about Price: “Needed to win: 40+ TDs, 9+ wins, strong performances versus top-10 teams: Washington isn’t expected to compete for a BCS bowl berth, but Price could still make a run at the award in much the same fashion as Griffin did last season. The Huskies are set to face LSU, Oregon and USC — all preseason top-five teams. That gives Price three opportunities to shine on a big stage. If he can lead the Huskies to a signature win — much like RG3 did against Oklahoma — voters may be willing to overlook other losses along the way.”

— CBSSports.com calls UW’s win over USC in 2009 one of the top biggest upsets of the last five years.

— It’s somewhat unclear if this is for real, but this FOX schedule that got re-Tweeted a lot yesterday shows the UW-USC game as a 4 p.m. kickoff.

Brandon Huffman of Scout.com Tweeted that former Husky Matt Lyons will play this year at Pierce JC in southern California.

— ESPN.com’s Kevin Gemmell answers a few UW-related questions in his latest chat.

Jake Locker, newly-anointed as Tennessee’s starting QB, will lead the Titans tonight against the Arizona Cardinals.

Mason Foster looks like a lock to make the final roster for Tampa Bay, but Daniel Te’o-Neshiem may not be.

— Will Chris Polk make the final roster for the Eagles?

AROUND THE PAC-12/COLLEGE FOOTBALL ….

— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller assesses the new coaches in the Pac-12.

— San Diego State will bring a young team to Seattle next week.

— A San Diego State notebook from UTSanDiego.com.

— LSU’s defensive line is called the best in the SEC by CBSSports.com.

— Oregon unveiled new uniforms Wednesday.

Stewart Mandel of SI.com picked UW and WSU to each go 6-6 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

— Mandel later explained his picks in an interview on KJR-AM. Listen here.

— Links around the Pac-12 from CBSSports.com.

Jeff Tuel appears to have the lead in the QB battle at WSU.

— Colorado looking into possible upgrades of Folsom Field.

— Utah is excited about its secondary.

— Fun list here on the QBs who replaced the legends at Stanford.

— A USC practice report.
