Saturday links — Another gameday

It’s one of 12 guaranteed gamedays this year for the Huskies. But in another sign of the times, it’s only one of nine. In fact, UW doesn’t play again on a Saturday until Oct. 6 at Oregon.

Today’s game, though, is suddenly important in its own right, even if it comes against the “C” team on UW’s A-B-C non-conference schedule, Portland State. The Huskies liked having this game where it is — in between the tough test against LSU and the beginning of conference play against Stanford,

But as I explained in my story for the Saturday paper , this game looms a lot more pivotal than it might have after what happened at LSU.

Here also is our game preview, with some nuts-and-bolts info on the contest.

The game today starts at 1 p.m. and will be televised nationally on FX.
