Tuesday morning notes and links

The Huskies don’t play this weekend. But that doesn’t mean the team is off, as the Huskies are conducting what is pretty much a normal week of practice.

That means they will be on the field later this morning, as well as Wednesday and Thursday. UW plans to take Friday off and then begin a normal gameweek of practice on Saturday in preparation for the Stanford game next Thursday. So we’ll have some news and notes later from today’s practice. Steve Sarkisian will also appear on the Pac-12 Coaches Conference Call later today.

For now, a few links. …

Bud Withers looks at media access around the Pac-12. And here’s my story on UW’s views on a conference-wide policy.

— Former Husky Johri Fogerson is in a little more trouble.

Mason Kelley of ESPN’s HuskyNation talked to the coach for Travell Dixon who said UW will be the perfect fit. “He was one of the best junior college corners in the country,” O’Mera said. “He’s a big, physical kid who can run. He was a dominant player for us.”

— The Huskies will spend the week preparing for a Stanford team whose defense has come together quickly. (Stanford also has this weekend off, as is the Pac-12 rule for teams that play on a Thursday — that’s not the case for teams that play on a Friday, however).

Jon Wilner gives Stanford an A for last week.

— CBSSports.com says the USC game made it clear that Stanford has the best defensive front seven in the Pac-12.

— ESPN.com with more on Stanford’s front seven.

— One writer admits being wrong about Stanford.

— Here’s the Pac-12’s official release this week with news and notes on all the games this week — five total, all conference affairs.

— Here’s the Pac-12 rundown from The Oregonian.

— CBSSports.com rates UW 10th in the Pac-12 this week. But in a separate ranking, CBSSports.com has UW 27th in the nation.

— ESPN.com takes a quick look at all the games this week.

— The Eugene Register-Guard wonders if Jon Embree is already in trouble, and has UW rated fifth in the North.

— Some USC notes, including an item on kicker Alex Wood, a walk-on from Mercer Island.

— And lots of links around the conference from The Spokesman-Review.
