Poll watch

The major Top 25 polls for this week are out — here’s the AP Poll and here’s the Coaches Poll.

As was the case last week, Washington did not receive votes in the AP poll but got two in the Coaches Poll (and in that poll the votes are secret so it’s not known who voted for UW).

One of the big changes in the AP poll is Oregon moving up to No. 2. Stanford is No. 8 and USC No. 13 — and as anyone reading this is surely aware, those are the next three teams on Washington’s schedule.

As of this moment, UW is no longer scheduled to play four straight ranked teams with Arizona moving out of the poll after its 49-0 loss at Oregon. But new to the AP poll is Oregon State at No. 18 —- the Beavers come to Seattle Oct. 27 to play UW. Arizona still received some votes, good for technically No. 31 in the poll — so it could be said UW’s next five opponents are at the moment all considered among the top 31 teams in the country.

My poll is below, and as you can see I’m among the voters who moved Oregon ahead of LSU. It wasn’t necessarily a revelation that Oregon’s defense played well. But pitching a shutout against what had been one of the hottest offenses in the country was eye-opening.

The big mover of the week was Kansas State after its win at Oklahoma.

And as you can also see, I remain having five Pac-12 teams in my poll. I moved Arizona State back in after its big win over Utah, preferring what the Sun Devils have done to a couple of the teams that moved into the actual poll, such as Rutgers and Baylor.

Here’s my ballot:

1, Alabama
2, Oregon
3, LSU
4, Florida State
5, Kansas State
6, South Carolina
7, Stanford
8, Georgia
9, Notre Dame
10, West Virginia
11, USC
12, Oklahoma
13, Florida
14, TCU
15, Texas
16, Clemson
17, Ohio State
18, Oregon State
19, Louisville
20, Mississippi State
21, Arizona State
22, Oklahoma State
23, Michigan State
24, Boise State
25, Nebraska
