Cal’s Allen hurt?

In news that could have a significant impact on Friday night’s Cal-UW game, there are reports today that Cal receiver Keenan Allen may be hurt.

As I write there, there is nothing official from Cal, and it’s uncertain if there will be.

Allen is regarded as one of the top handful of receivers in the Pac-12 and a likely high-round NFL pick next season (he’s a junior but regarded as certain to declare).

Allen ranks fourth in the conference in receptions with 60 and seventh in yards 714. UW fans may remember (whether they want to or not) his 90-yard catch-and-run last year against the Huskies that is tied for the second-longest pass ever against Washington.

A matchup of Allen and UW cornerback Desmond Trufant figured to be one of the highlight attractions of Friday’s game.

I’ll pass along more definitive news if/when it comes.
