Gameday poll — Do you like the idea of Friday night college games?

One aspect of tonight’s game that is unique is that, well, it’s being played tonight, on a Friday.

(EDIT — As readers have told me, the 2007 season opener at Syracuse was on a Friday night. I frankly forgot that one putting this one together, and that felt sort of different since it was on Labor Day Weekend, when games throughout the weekend are common. But that does indeed count as a Friday night game. So I stand corrected on that, though I think the larger issue remains.)

But Friday night had long been regarded as off-limits by college teams, reserved nationwide for people to focus on high school games.

But like all sorts of college athletic barriers, that one has also slowly eroded. For a while it was just some of the more off-the-radar conferences that played on Friday night (MAC, etc.). But the big boys are increasingly doing, and you will see the Pac-12 play a handful of Friday night games every year now going forward.

Since this is an away game, maybe the impact of a Friday night game is somewhat muted for UW fans, though for many there still may be a choice — watch the Huskies on TV or go to a high school game somewhere?

So I figured while we wait for kickoff I’d throw it out to the blog audience — do you have any issues with college teams playing on Friday nights? Vote below:
