Steve Sarkisian’s weekly Monday press conference has concluded. As always, I’ll have more complete quotes and video a little later.
But here are a few quick notes. …
— Sarkisian said none of the injuries suffered Friday appear long-lasting and that he thinks all of those players should be able to play against Utah. He didn’t mention names but that would obviously include Desmond Trufant, who sat out the second half with a hamstring injury.
— Sarkisian said of UW’s 12 penalties Friday that about half were calls he does not agree with, and doesn’t necessarily think UW is having any bigger issues with penalties than other teams noting that many Pac-12 teams rank among the most-penalized teams in the country.
— He said Shaq Thompson has been battling an ankle injury since it first crept up in the USC game, which has limited his use as a returner. He was asked again about the possibility of using Thompson on offense and he said again — and rather strongly — that he has made a commitment to putting some of the best athletes on defense. So basically, don’t count on seeing Thompson on offense anytime soon.
