Huskies open as 21-point favorites at Colorado

The opening Las Vegas lines for next week’s games are out, and they show UW as a 21-point favorite at Colorado.

An obvious question is the last time UW was that much of a favorite on the road. A helpful reader passed along that the answer is the 1997 Oregon State game when UW was a 23-point favorite, a game it won 45-17 against a Beavers’ team that went winless in Pac-10 play in the first year under Mike Riley.

The spread obviously speaks both to Colorado’s ineptness, especially with a defense that ranks as the worst in the country, and UW’s three-game winning streak and recent signs of life on offense.

Here are lines on the other Pac-12 games:

— Oregon is a 24-point favorite against visiting Stanford;
— Arizona State is a 19-point favorite over visiting Washington State;
— USC is a 3-point favorite at UCLA.

And as I type this, no line yet on OSU-Cal (probably due to QB uncertainties with both teams) and Arizona-Utah (Arizona also has QB uncertainty).
