The opening lines for the bowl games are out this morning, and they show Boise State favored over the Huskies by 7.5 points.
UW had four higher spreads against it this season as the Huskies were a 23.5-point underdog at LSU, 25-point underdog at Oregon, a 14-point underdog against USC and an 8.5-point underdog at Arizona. UW was also a seven-point underdog at home against Stanford.
UW went 1-4 on the field in those games, beating the Cardinal but losing the other four. UW also covered against USC, going 2-3 against the spread in those games.
The Huskies were 7-5 against the spread for the regular season, matching their record straight-up, though some of the wins and losses differed.
As noted, UW got the win against the spread against USC despite losing, but lost against the spread against San Diego State despite winning. In the other 10 games, UW either won both on the field and against the spread, or lost on the field and against the spread.
Boise State, which was 10-2 straight-up this year, was not as good against the spread, going 6-6.
In lines involving other Pac-12 teams:
— Arizona is a 7.5-point favorite against Nevada in the New Mexico Bowl;
— Baylor is a one-point favorite over UCLA in the Holiday Bowl;
— Oregon State is a one-point favorite over Texas in the Alamo Bowl;
— Stanford is a 6.5-point favorite over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl;
— and Oregon is an eight-point favorite over Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl.
There are no lines yet on the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl (Arizona State-Navy) and the Sun Bowl (USC-Georgia Tech), the latter surely due to the uncertainty over the health of Matt Barkley.
