“Gasman” leaving KJR-AM

Longtime KJR-AM radio host Mike Gastineau is leaving the station, it was announced today. Here’s my story with details.

It’s unclear what his next move is but it sounds as if there will be one, which is good news as Gastineau is a good guy and a good announcer — I was fortunate enough to do a regular spot with him during the football season since at least 2000 (I really can’t remember but it’s been a while).

He was also pretty involved with UW sports as he served as the host of the radio shows for the football and basketball coaches and was also the backup play-by-play announcer, filling in on basketball games when Bob Rondeau had conflicts.

While this is goodbye for Gastineau andn KJR-AM, pretty sure this won’t be the last we hear of him, which is a good thing.
