Friday night notes — Thompson, Williams honored, and more

Catching up on some news and notes. …

— UW’s Shaq Thompson was named to the FoxSportsNext.com Freshman All-American second team.

— UW QB commit Troy Williams was named the LA City Section Player of the Year for the second straight season.

— For our story for Saturday’s paper, I wrote about Kasen Williams.

— A number of you have already noted that Rueben Foster, regarded as one of the top linebacker prospects in the country, will visit UW next month. Here’s a bit of background behind his decision to decommit from Auburn. And more from Scout.com, noting his visit will be Jan. 12.

— A book signing for Derek Johnson and former UW linebacker Dave Hoffmann, who is the subject of Johnson’s book “The Husky Hitman” will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Bellevue Barnes and Noble.
