Arkansas officially announces the hiring of Joel Thomas
Arkansas has officially announced the hiring of UW running backs coach Joel Thomas to the same position.
Here is the release from Arkansas with details. Here also is a story from ArkansasOnline.com.
The connection here is that Thomas worked at Purdue in 2000-2001 with new Arkansas offensive coordinator Jim Chaney.
Bret Bielema is the new Arkansas head coach.
Thomas had also been given the title of Associate Head Coach for offense last year at UW.
He had a contract at UW through next year that was due to pay him $205,000 in 2013. It would be assumed he’s making more at Arkansas.
He is the second assistant coach to leave UW voluntarily the last two years, the other being offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier last season. He also left for the SEC, becoming the OC at Alabama.
