Tuesday afternoon notes — Schedules, recruiting and more

A few notes and links and other stuff. …

— I’ve gotten lots of questions about when the Pac-12 Conference football schedule for 2013 will be released. The conference Tweeted recently it will come in February. Opponents have already been set based on the schedule rotation. But the dates are what remain to be determined.

— Former UW linebacker Jerry Jensen, a captain on the 1997 team, has been named the new football coach at Archbishop Murphy High in Everett, replacing Bill Marsh.

— Defensive end Kylie Fitts of Redlands (Calif.) East Valley High — the same high school as Chris Polk and Andrew Hudson, among others — has decommited from USC and may now consider UW. Sounds like USC was caught in a numbers game and told Fitts he couldn’t enroll early, which has his high school coach unhappy. Early speculation seems to be that UCLA may be his most likely destination now. But he has already visited UW, as well.

Reuben Foster, the highly-rated LB from Auburn, Ala., who has said he will visit UW, said this week he plans soon to narrow his visits from five to three.

— Here’s an early listing of UW as 100-1 to win the national title next year.

— The Pac-12 today cleared WSU of abuse allegations. Deadspin has its own take on that (though be forewarned there is some NSFW language included).

— Cal cornerback Steve Williams has become the latest conference player to declare for the NFL Draft. Stanford defensive back Terrance Brown also announced today he is leaving early, the third Cardinal to do so.

— Interesting stuff from ESPN.com on possible changes to recruiting rules.

— Lots more details emerging today on how the new college football playoff will work.
