WASHINGTON, D.C. – The NFL Players Association is proud to announce that DREW SCHAEFER of the University of Washington has committed to playing in the 2013 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
The Sammamish, Wash. center will be one of the talented draft-eligible seniors competing in the all-star game on Saturday, January 19 at The Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised live on ESPN2. ESPNU will also air live broadcasts from practices on Thursday, January 17.
Schaefer earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 and won Washington’s 101 Club Academic Excellence Award following the 2012 season. He has started every game since 2010 for a total of 43 straight games as he finished his UW career. He was voted as the team captain by his peers for the 2012 season. Schaefer has been a key contributor to the Huskies team since 2009 where he played in all 12 games and ended the season as the starter at left tackle.
So far, the only other UW player confirmed to play in a post-season all-star game is cornerback Desmond Trufant, who will play in the Senior Bowl Jan. 26.
